Chief Financial Officer

Position Summary:
Request Foods’ Chief Financial Officer serves on the Company’s leadership team, and reports directly to the President. The CFO has the following primary responsibilities; financial oversight, asset protection and improvement in the financial strength of the Company while regularly supplying reliable financial information and analysis to the leadership team and Board of Directors for informed decision making. The Company is one of the largest family-owned and operated, co-manufacturing food companies in the nation and services customers throughout North America. We will look for the CFO to take an active role in developing responsible financial strategies needed to reach the next level of Company growth and success.

Our CFO is directly responsible for the Finance and Information Services departments. The CFO protects confidentiality of sensitive financial information and oversees the development and deployment of all finance policies, procedures, and practices to ensure accuracy in the finance and accounting systems. These systems also include: budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, monthly financial statement reporting and analysis, internal controls, treasury operations, banking relations, tax, audit, risk management, payroll, accounts receivable and payable, fixed asset record keeping, product costing, mergers & acquisitions, administering certain employee benefits, tax incentives and timely reporting of financial information in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations. The CFO has responsibility for the integrity and security of all information systems, oversees Company legal matters, and coordinates all Board matters. All of this is done under, and in accordance with, all Company policies, procedures, and practices.

The CFO is a self-motivated self-starter who naturally assumes responsibility and displays the personal characteristics of honesty, a humble servant’s attitude that is both genuine and natural, helpfulness, trustworthiness, hard work, organization, attention to detail and timeliness. He or she adheres to the Company’s culture and mission statement by example and maintains good collaborative working relationships with everyone at all levels of management, with our directors and shareholders, and with our outside advisors in the areas of finance, management, information technology, and corporate legal matters. He or she will also have good working relationships with customers, suppliers, examiners, governmental agencies and other outside stakeholders. If properly elected, the CFO can expect to fill the Company office of Secretary.

In all relationships, the CFO will be responsible for establishing and maintaining sound operational practices that make our Company stronger. He or she is actively engaged in the overall operations of the Company, thus making significant contributions to the betterment of our Company. Specific Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the Director of Finance and the Director of Information Services and maintain high performance in these departments through training and development.
  • Oversee all financial management including: Accounting, Budgets, Forecasting, Financial Planning, Reporting and Analysis, Internal Controls, Financial Policy Development and Deployment, Tax, Banking, Treasury, Audit, Risk Management, Employee Benefits (in partnership with Human Resources), and Information Technology.
  • Develop and manage risk management programs and processes for protection and confidentiality of Company data and information.
  • Oversee and manage monthly financial reporting process, including quarterly product and departmental margin and costing information, financial analysis and related information.
  • Develop with senior management long range planning and annual operating budgets.
  • Play an integral role in advising the President and other key executives on corporate financial and business strategies. As a member of senior management, the CFO works closely with the leadership team in setting financial strategy.
  • Maintain good financing relationships and arrange for favorable financing as needed.
  • Review and approve all financial statements and tax information. Oversee authorized communication to directors, shareholders, management and third parties.
  • Participate in retirement plan meetings with plan advisors and Company management. Involved in all Company investments and related committees.
  • Serve as a member of the Compensation Committee overseeing all compensation programs.
  • Member of the business operations leadership team working closely with various corporate departments.
  • Participate in the preparation of the Company’s annual fiscal year-end financial statements and responses to outside accountants as needed.
  • Negotiate key customer, supplier, management employee and other contracts with help of outside legal counsel as required.
  • Meet with owner family’s financial advisor and Director of Finance monthly to review and coordinate on significant matters that could financially affect the Company in some way.
  • Prepare and participate in regular Board of Director meetings and prepare shareholder and director consents held without a meeting.
  • Prepare special analysis as requested by President (including potential Company acquisitions, Company planning, etc.).

Position Requirements:

  • 15 plus years of progressive financial management responsibility in a multi-plant manufacturing environment for a company with annual revenues of several hundred million dollars.
  • CPA required, MBA preferred.
  • Collaborative team player and consensus builder with a distinct “hands-on-mentality” being able to successfully solve operational as well as strategic challenges.
  • Excellent written and communication skills, good listening skills.
  • Previous IT management, business acquisition and foreign enterprise experience desired.

Industrial Cook – 1st Shift

Hours:
3:30am – 12:30pm (hours may vary)

Job Overview:
As a Cook at Request Foods of Holland, MI, you will be responsible for making large scale batches of vegetables or sauces safely and efficiently. This job requires attention to detail and includes physical activities such as heavy lifting and shoveling of ingredients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Mix, cook, and process various raw materials consistent with daily production needs.
  • Weigh all raw goods to specifications.
  • Keep prep cooler and other work areas clean and organized.
  • Monitor and maintains proper rotation of raw goods.
  • Handle and stores leftover raw goods according to procedures.
  • Document work accomplished and hazard analysis critical control point requirements according to procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Strong communication skills; Ability to read, write and communicate effectively.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs frequently
  • Ability to work in cold environment (Cooler, Freezer)
  • Good organizational skills and detail oriented.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s

Machine Operator – 1st Shift

Hours:
5:30am – shift end (hours may vary)

Job Overview:
As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating food processing machinery to safely and efficiently produce frozen food entrees. You will also be responsible for supplying the production line with raw materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for setting up and tearing down the production line equipment.
  • Operate machines, including troubleshooting, cleanup, setup, basic quality control, and waste control.
  • Responsible for keeping the production line supplied with raw materials at all times.
  • Responsible for the operation of a manual and/or power hand jack.
  • Able to complete production paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assist packing department by stacking cases of finished product onto pallets as they come off the packaging line.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instruction, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.

Machine Operator – 2nd Shift

2:30pm – shift end (hours may vary)

Job Overview:
As a Sanitation Worker at Request Foods of Holland, MI you will be responsible for cleaning production equipment and adjacent areas following approved sanitary methods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the efficient and effective cleaning of production equipment and adjacent areas, in addition to other environments, following approved sanitary methods.
  • Responsible for the safe use of appropriate chemical solutions to ensure the cleanest and most highly sanitized equipment.
  • Ensure that all necessary safety precautions are followed in performing your responsibilities.
  • Responsible for following through on projects assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills and Qualities:

  • Ability to understand the operation of various pieces of production equipment mechanically and regarding the power source.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team members.
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in cold environment (Cooler, Freezer)
  • Ability to be flexible with the variety of work responsibilities available.
